Steeplebush (Spiraea tomentosa) is known for its showy perennial pink flowers and has excellent foliage that turns bright gold and auburn in fall. It is an uncommon shrub in the wild found in high quality wetland habitats, therefore it requires a moist setting for planting such as shorelines, around ponds, rain gardens, naturalized swale areas, or a water garden feature. Steeplebush flowers on new wood, so prune in late winter to early spring if needed. Benefits of Spiraea tomentosa include conspicuous flowers, bird and butterfly attraction, etc.
