Gymnocladus dioicus
The Kentucky Coffee Tree is very tolerant of poor soil and is drought tolerant. Mostly planted in urban areas for its unique appearance and shade but are found in flood plain and river valleys. Caution should be taken when consuming the fruit of this tree as it contains alkaloid cytisine, but it was used as a coffee for Native Americans.
