Abies balsamea
The Balsam Fir is a small to medium size evergreen tree. The bark is smooth, grey with white resin blisters when it is younger becoming rough and scaly with age. The needles are flat, about ¾ inch long, and dark green in color while the underside is lighter. Female cones are purple, growing at the top of the tree, in an upright position.
