Self Pollinating

The Concord Grape was first developed in 1849 in Concord, Massachusetts by Ephraim Wales Bull, being introduced to market in 1854. Dr. Thomas Bramwell Welch developed the first Concord Grape juice in 1869. Grapes have the best survivability if planted during the dormant season. Concord grapes are cold hardy and easy to grow. They start producing fruit at about 3 to 4 years and the same plants can continue to produce for well over 50 years. These grapes are self-fertile. The vines do get heavy from the fruit so staking them or letting them grow on a fence or trellises works well
